Your data on Sidelane
Last updated 1 October 2026. Plain words first; ask us if anything is unclear.
Who is responsible
Sidelane is run by Artifesto ASBL, non-profit association, Square Marie-Louise 17 box 7, 1000 Brussels, enterprise number 0790.819.917 (Belgium). You can reach us at info@sidelane.live.
We are the controller of the personal data described here, under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
What we collect
- Your account: email address and password (stored as a hash by our database provider; we never see it).
- Your artist profile: name, home city, acts (name, genres, line-up, languages, bio, links, photo) and setups.
- What you do on Sidelane: venue reports, venues you add, intro requests, spots and swaps you offer or ask for, messages in those threads, reviews, credits, your contacts list, saved tour plans and email preferences.
- What you send to the AI tools: your act’s profile and the venues or notes you ask about (see below).
- Technical data: sign-in cookies and the server logs our hosting providers keep (IP address, browser, time).
We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don’t sell or rent personal data. The only cookies are the ones that keep you signed in.
Why, and on what basis
- To run your account and the network (showing your profile to members, passing requests and messages, keeping credits): this is the service you signed up for (contract, GDPR art. 6(1)(b)).
- To keep Sidelane fair and safe (limits against fake accounts and credit farming, moderation, security logs): our legitimate interest (art. 6(1)(f)).
- Emails about your network activity (someone asked you for an intro, answered you, wrote in a thread): part of the service; you can switch them off in your artist profile or with the link in every email. We send no newsletters without asking you first.
Who can see what
- Everyone, without an account: the venue map (venues, cities, sizes, styles). No member data.
- Signed-in members: your artist page (acts, setups, city, links, reviews, and what you did on the network, such as reports written and artists hosted).
- Members who can read reports: your venue reports, shown with your act name.
- Only the people in a thread: intro and spot requests and their messages.
- Only you: your email address, credits history, contacts list and tour plans.
Services that process data for us
- Supabase (database, sign-in, photo storage), servers in Frankfurt, Germany.
- Vercel (hosting of the website).
- Resend (sending our emails, including password resets and notifications).
- Anthropic (Claude, the AI behind venue rankings, booking emails, report notes and tour plans). What you send to a tool is processed to answer you; Anthropic does not use it to train its models under its commercial terms.
- OpenStreetMap: the street maps on venue pages load map images directly from openstreetmap.org, which sees your IP address. Venue positions were looked up once from public addresses with OpenStreetMap Nominatim.
- Google Maps, only if you click “Directions” on a venue page.
Some of these companies are based in the United States. Where data leaves the EU, they rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. When paid plans start, payments will be handled by a payment provider, and we will update this page before that happens.
How long we keep it
As long as your account is open. When an account is closed, we remove its personal details (name, email, city, acts, setups, photos, links, messages, contacts and tour plans). Venue reports stay on the map without your name, credited to “Former member”, because other artists rely on them. Server logs are kept by our providers for a limited time.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, download or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Most of it you can edit yourself in your artist profile. To close your account or for anything else, write to info@sidelane.live from the email you signed up with; we answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be).
Sidelane is for people aged 16 and over.
